A civil law suit is one of the most difficult types of cases to prove in a court of law. This type of law suit is between two parties who dispute the facts of an incident or problem. The goal of the civil law suit is to find a solution to the problem, which usually is in the involvement of a financial settlement made from the defendant to the plaintiff. In some situations, the civil matter is settled out of court, between two attorneys defending each side of the case. In other situations, there can be no agreement, so that case is brought before a judge to determine if it should be brought to court. The judge can refuse and dismiss the case or allow it to stand trial where the judge or the jury will determine what settlement should be received.
