A mesothelioma lawsuit is one in which a person is suing another person or a business for exposure to asbestos material that has lead to the development of mesothelioma, a rare and highly lethal form of cancer. Mesothelioma has no cure and a very low survival rate. The one known cause of it is exposure, even in minute amounts to asbestos material, a dangerous, natural material that was used heavily through the 1800's and early 1900's. The asbestos exposure causes the very slow development of this cancer that can take some 30 to 50 years to show signs of exposure. In this type of lawsuit, the plaintiff may be seeking damages for the exposure to asbestos caused by negligence on the other party's behalf.
